Decorating Ideas for a Cozier Indoor Experience

Is it too early to start thinking about Spring decorating? Here in Wisconsin, February is still chilly, but the days are getting longer, and I’m itching for warmer weather. Some days feel like winter is over, yet Spring hasn’t quite sprung. Share in the comments when you feel it’s time for your Spring décor. For me, March is the perfect month to welcome the season of new beginnings with changes in my home decorations.

Transitioning from winter to spring décor can be challenging, given the distinct aesthetics of each season. I’m here to help you bridge the gap and bring a cozy atmosphere to your home – all you have to do is start!

  1.  Refresh with Color and Texture: Focus on key design elements like color and texture. Winter leans towards darker colors but in Spring, opt for pastels and florals in curtains, throw pillows, rugs, and bed sheets. Pottery Barn’s Spring lookbook suggests embracing blue and white with a touch of florals. Spring Rugs, More Throw Pillows, Steer clear of items with slogans or excessive writing.
  1. Floral Accents: Introduce spring floral arrangements and floral accents in various spaces, from the entryway door mat to the bedroom. Incorporate floral or botanical prints into bed sheets, or table and mantel decorations for an added touch. Artificial Cherry Blossom Flowers in a beautiful white Vase
  1. Lighter Fabrics: Swap chunky fabrics for cool and lightweight cotton or linen. Replace heavy curtains with sheer ones to allow more light and breeze indoors. Crisp white fabrics for curtains and bedding can give rooms a fresh and airy feel. These viral TwoPages curtains from Amazon are highly rated. Swap out your heavy winter throw blankets for something lighter, brighter and more colorful. Spring Throw Blankets, Spring Bedding

  1. Greenery Everywhere: Bring the freshness of the outdoors inside by incorporating greenery throughout your home. Greenery instantly brightens any space and works well year-round. Place potted plants and topiary trees in corners, hallways, and tabletops. Hang green Wreaths, or Garlands on doors, mantels, or headboards to liven up a room and bring the outside in. As a personal touch, I’ve replaced my Christmas tree with a Giant Bird of Paradise plant—a striking and stylish alternative!
